Being a female (in the US, at least), it's appropriate that Siri is now able to do some serious shopping. Not on her own, obviously, but with new capabilities announced by Wolfram Alpha.
The digital assistant from the latest iPhone can now help shoppers compare prices and purchase electronic items using voice commands, just in time for the holiday shopping frenzy.
On the Wolfram Alpha official blog, the company details the new option that Siri offers: "By leveraging data from Best Buy's public APIs, Wolfram|Alpha users will now be able to browse more than 35,000 appliances and consumer electronics products."
In order to make the shopping experience much simpler for busy people, Apple's digital assistant is ready not only to shop for products, but also to deliver product comparisons, analysis on the product's technical details and specific features, information about availability or users' ratings.
If that wasn't enough, users can even adjust criteria to find specific products to suit their needs using queries such as "the lightest digital camera under $100 with a pixel resolution greater than 12MP."
The option to search, analyse and buy electronics from Best Buy's catalogue is only available for US users, for now. However, Siri will surely deliver many more surprises in the future, as Apple has suggested from the beginning.
