Yahoo has added new Facebook sharing features to its websites in hopes of giving users more reasons to return to its websites.
The new set of features would allow users to share their Facebook activities on Yahoo websites. Yahoo has also added the capability whereby users have the ability to share articles they are currently reading.
The company had rolled out Facebook sharing options to its main website around 3 months ago and has now made the feature available to 26 of its other sites including omg, Yahoo! TV, Yahoo! Movies, and Yahoo! Games.
Yahoo is looking to piggy-back on Facebook's popularity, which has more than 800 million users, to drive more people to its websites and offer the engaging content and sharing to make them come back for more.
Ultimately, more users would result in greater online advertisement revenues, which have dropped significantly thanks to Google and Facebook.
The company informed that its move has started to pay off, with more than 12 million users sharing Yahoo! News stories with their Facebook friends. Yahoo also said that the traffic to its news websites from Facebook had more than tripled since the Facebook sharing features were introduced.
