YouTube Garners More Than 1 Trillion Views in 2011

Google's massively popular online video sharing platform YouTube has announced, on a proud note, that the total number of playbacks on the site during 2011 goes all the way to more than 1 trillion.

Amongst millions of videos on the site, the most watched music-video was ‘Friday' by Rebecca Black, the site stated. ‘Friday' was closely followed by Ultimate Dog Tease and Jack Sparrow (featuring Michael Bolton) in terms of number of views.

The most watched channel, on the other hand, was Machinima. And, when it came to most viewed music label video on the site, apparently no one could match the popularity of Jennifer Lopez.

In the technology section, iPhone 5's Concept Features video managed to climb all the way to the top, whereas the most viewed political video on the site during 2011 was ‘Zach Wahls Speaks About Family'. Japan Earthquake: Helicopter Aerial View Video of Giant Tsunami Waves featured the top spot amongst most watched News videos.

"(The year) 2011 was a year of amazing new channels and new stars being discovered, awesome creativity, and of course, Rebecca Black," YouTube trends manager, Kevin Allocca, said during YouTube Rewind 2011, according to a report by SiliconRepublic.
