Noon News: Firefox 9 for Android, Voice Control on LG Magic Remote, Microsoft Fixing Xbox Live Errors

Following the release of Firefox 9, the Mozilla Foundation has launched a new version of its Android web browser - previously known as Fennec. Now known as Firefox 9 for Android, the latest release of the browser includes some impressive new features, with a revised user interface making the browser significantly more usable on large-screen portable devices like tablets.

LG has announced that it is adding voice recognition support to its massively anticipated Magic Remote TV control. The Magic Remote was already made available to users through a number of major markets by the company.

Microsoft has confirmed that some Xbox Live users are currently experiencing errors since the most recent 'Fall Update' to its Xbox 360 games console, and promises that a fix is incoming. The errors, showing on consoles as an "Error Code 801540B7" or "Error Code 80070571," prevent the users from downloading existing profiles from the Xbox Live servers

Norman Krim, one of the minds responsible for the success of the transistor as a replacement for vacuum tubes in electronics, has died aged 98. While not responsible for the invention of the transistor, the Raytheon and RadioShack veteran convinced his employer to mass produce transistors having quickly ascertained their potential for the miniaturisation of electronics.

Solely owned Sony company Sony Ericsson has now outlined when exactly their Xperia range of existing handsets will be upgraded to the Google mobile ‘Ice Cream Sandwich' OS, which starts at the end of March or early April 2012.
