Rhapsody - the leading digital music platform has announced it has over 1 million subscribers in the US.
It has been almost 10 years since Rhapsody entered the US digital music market, and with this milestone reached, the company has yet again established itself as the most popular music subscription service in the country.
Rhapsody's business model allows subscribers to enjoy unlimited access to its massive online music library for a fixed amount - $10 on all devices, and $5 on computer-only subscriptions.
The company also makes available a free trial period which provides users mobile access as well.
For years, Rhapsody's subscribers totalled more or less around the 800,000 landmark. However, with a fresh attempt by Rhapsody's team, the company has pushed that number to surpass the 1 million milestone.
"We've accomplished quite a bit over the past decade, so it's no small statement to say that 2011 was probably our biggest year yet," stated Rhapsody president Jon Irwin, according to a Venture Beat report.
"I told our team that when we topped one million paid subscribers, I'd shave my head... it was probably the best free haircut I've ever had," he added.
