Acer has been rumoured to be preparing a launch of its 15.5 inch Ultrabook laptop which is going to come with a $699 price tag.
Intel had come up with the Ultrabook platform to take on Apple's MacBook Air in the super-thin laptops market. Ultrabooks would the thinner and lighter than the MacBook Air, with a long-lasting battery back-up and will carry a lighter price-tag.
Samsung, HP, Asus and every other major computer and laptop maker is busy dishing out or preparing to release an Ultrabook variant, in a market which is fascinated by the likes of Apple iPad and the Amazon Kindle Fire.
However, the manufacturers are finding it difficult to bring the price of the Ultrabooks to below the $1000 mark. Acer it seems has cracked the code and is preparing to release a large screened Ultrabook laptop which comes with a $699 price tag, according to sources cited by Digitimes.
Citing Taiwan based supply chain sources, Digitimes said that Acer was partnering with Pegatron Technologies to make the laptops. Acer currently partners with Wistron to make its Ultrabooks devices.
