Argos has dropped the price of the LG Viewty Snap smartphone down to £40 (excluding a compulsory £10 top up) compared to £60 at Carphone Warehouse; the phone is available on T-Mobile.
Its main selling point is its five megapixel camera with AF and flash, which is on par with the Samsung Galaxy S and the Galaxy Nexus, with video recording capabilities, Schneider Kreuznach optics and a zoom feature called "Optic-All".
To keep prices down, the GM360 comes with a 3-inch resistive touchscreen display with a 240x400 pixel resolution; there's only 60MB onboard storage, although it can be increased on the cheap thanks to a microSD card reader that can take it up to 16GB.
There's no Wi-Fi or 3G on the phone though but you do get Bluetooth, a microUSB port and an FM Radio with RDS plus a dedicated Facebook App which can be used to upload photos straight from the camera and a document viewer.
No other phone under £50 comes with a five megapixel camera, however, Which? magazine says that the phone manages only three and a half hours of talk time compared to the five hours LG claims using the standard 900mAh battery.
