Anonymous Targets Sony's Network for Supporting SOPA

Anonymous has claimed in a video message that it is going to ‘destroy' the Sony Network over the company's support for the controversial SOPA act.

According to an article on Games On, the hacker group, which made headlines by bringing down the websites of credit card companies for not supporting Wikileaks, has made it clear that it does not plan to harm PlayStation Network users, only the Sony Network.

Last year, PSN was the victim of a massive hack attack. Sony tried to pin the hacking on Anonymous but the group had claimed it was not responsible for the attack - details of more than 70 million PSN users worldwide was compromised.

In the video, the group, which has given birth to various sub-groups, also threatened pop stars like Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian and Taylor Swift for supporting the SOPA bill. The bill is currently being reviewed by House Judiciary Committee in the United States House of Representatives.

Internet companies, free speech groups and users, along with several journalist groups, have raised their voices against the act, claiming it would do more harm than good.
