Consumer Interest in Kindle Fire Up 261% During the Holiday Season

During the past Christmas season, Amazon's Kindle Fire Android powered tablet was one of the most popular gift of the year, according to latest data released by Millennial Media, ad network.

The same data also indicated that ad impressions by Kindle Fire generated such huge interest that the sale of the device went up by 261 percent. This figure helped to bridge the gap between Kindle Fire and market leader Apple iPad 2 sales.

During December 23 to December 26, which was the holiday weekend, the ad network witnessed an "average daily growth" of the device's ad impressions of 113 percent which further increased on Christmas Day, reports Mobile Burn.

On the other hand, the number one tablet in the market iPad 2 also witnessed good growth in over the same weekend, however, the iPad 2 was still far behind when it came to rapid growth in the market.

Tablet devices are rising in popularity; new devices are expected to be launched during CES 2012. Amazon's Kindle Fire was one of the most anticipated devices of last year and it will be interesting to see its fate throughout the new year.
