LG is ready with its LG Optimus 2 - the sequel to its earlier entry level Optimus smartphone launched in 2010 and details of the smartphone have been made available on its official website. The specification shows that the new handset is quite similar to its earlier version having many common features making it more or less a mid-range smartphone.
The device is equipped with a 3.2 inch touchscreen display with 320x480 pixel resolution. It is powered by 800MHz processor. The camera is of 3.2 megapixel that has autofocus, along with video capture capability. It runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and comes with the QWERTY keyboard featuring Swype.
Despite the company not revealing the names of the carriers through which the phone will be made available, the spectrum support of this phone very much suggests that U.S. CDMA carrier like Sprint or Verizon Wireless will be offering the handset.
Alltel and CellCom websites are also displaying the LG Optimus 2. CellCom website is offering the phone for $0.95 on two-year contract basis and no off-contract pricing has been announced for the time being.
The UK launch of the Optimus 2 hasn't been announced yet.
