A number of UK retailers are selling the Motorola XOOM for £319 but one of them, Pixmania, is selling the XOOM 2 HD for the same price with free shipping when keying in the code PIXUKJAN6, a 15 per cent discount off the original price.
Oddly enough, Pixmania sells the original XOOM tablet for £320 (as sold by Expansys) and the Motorola XOOM Media Edition - one with an 8.2-inch display - for £330.
As a reminder, the XOOM 2 HD has a 10.1-inch 1280x800 pixel capacitive touchscreen IPS display, with a dual core 1.2GHz TI OMAP chipset, 1GB RAM, 16GB onboard storage, a five megapixel camera with a 1.3-megapixel front-facing one, a 7000mAh battery, Android 3.2 Honeycomb (upgradable to Ice Cream Sandwich), Wi-Fi, HDMI, micro USB, Bluetooth 2.0, SD Card, GPS and more.
What sets the tablet apart from the previous tablet though, is its size and weight. It is only 8.8mm thick and weighs 605g; in comparison, the original XOOM was 12.9mm thick and was 103g heavier.
The thinnest tablet on the market however, comes from Toshiba; the Regza AT700 will be released at CES 2012 and is only 7.7mm thin, though it weighs 613g.
