Sony has released the BBC News app for its connected TVs joining the ranks of Panasonic and Samsung.
The company said that the users will be able to access the BBC News app from the Sony Entertainment Network platform. BBC News is the second BBC app that the company has made available on its SEN platform, the first one being the BBC iPlayer app.
The app, designed for Sony's Bravia range of connected TVs, is optimised for use on TVs, offering users videos and texts from the BBC News website. Sony said that the app will take news from the BBC's operations in the UK and the rest of the world.
"The News app provides another great way for people to keep on top of what's going on at a time that suits them. We continue to add new and exciting partners to the Sony Entertainment Network, ensuring there is always something great to watch." said Edd Uzzell, Sony category development manager reports TechRadar.
The Japanese consumer electronics giant is expected to dish out new connected TV sets, along with those powered by the Google TV platform at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week.
