On Tuesday, at the CES 2012 in Las Vegas, Netgear launched its Smart Network Cloud Application Platform (SNCP). The platform allows consumers to buy and download applications from the cloud to further optimise and personalise their own networking devices.
According to Netgear's director of product marketing, Somshubhro Pal Choudhury, this new app platform will be helping in personalising the user experience to a great extent.
The SNCP will be made available exclusively through the latest products of Netgear, for example, the WNDR4700 router that was launched today. Besides the router, future networking devices like NAS servers and media players will be compatible for the Smart Network Cloud Application Platform, reports CNET.
All of these products will be available with the latest dashboard named AppManager. Users can select and use downloadable apps from the Netgear controlled cloud-based store.
The company clarified Smart Network apps include games and tools and various utilities that anyone can develop. The new AppManager provides different apps developed by Netgear and third-party vendors.
