Dell CEO Still Believes in the Popularity of PCs

Michael Dell, CEO of Dell, firmly believes that tablets and smartphones cannot challenge the PC - he further believes that users accessing the Internet through these devices will eventually move to PC for a better experience.

According to Dell, if one has to make a choice between these three devices and can have only one of the device, the obvious choice is PC over tablet computer or smartphone. Then the CEO added, "If you could have two devices, then you would probably choose the phone before the tablet," reports PC World.

At an event organised by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Dell spoke at length saying that tablet computers are used only in addition to smartphones.

The same opinion was also expressed by IDS, an analyst firm, in October when they commented that they do not expect media tablets or any other device to completely replace PCs. In fact, the global shipping of PC enhanced by 3.6 percent in 3rd quarter of 2011 as compared to the figures of the same quarter in 2010.

The Dell CEO also disclosed that the company will be making a few announcements very soon regarding smartphones.
