Gift and gadget maker thumbsup! has unveiled a new iPad 2 case which turns the tablet device into a retro Macintosh personal computer.
The new case will be put on display at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and also at the Spring Fare in the UK. The company said it plans to launch the case in the second quarter of 2012.
The Padintosh iPad 2 has been designed for die-hard Apple fans to remind them what it was like in the good old dayd when floppy disks ruled the world of computing. The case turns the device into the Apple Macintosh, which was launched back in 1984, reports Digital Spy.
"In today's world, however, having a computer more than two inches thick is considered excessive. With this in mind, thumbsUp! has developed the Padintosh - allowing you to show off the latest in tablet technology whilst still demonstrating your appreciation for the original Apple Macintosh style," the company said in a press release.
The case, designed to fit perfectly with the iPad 2, comes with a screen cover and users will be able to use the tablet device as usual when it fits into the case. The company did not reveal price details.
