Amazon Web Services has confirmed plans to offer Direct Connect technology in the UK which would enable customers to purchase their personal network connection directly through the Amazon Web Services' data centre without having to use public Internet for transferring information.
Customers would be able to create dedicated network connections in between the local Amazon Web Services facility and their own data centre. According to the company, the dedicated network will lead to lower bandwidth costs which is crucial for a high number of applications and better performance.
The customers in UK are equipped to connect to Amazon Web Services' EU West (Ireland) region through the Telecity Sovereign House data centre located in London at a port speed of either 1Gbps or 10Gbps.
Also the company ha plans for new Direct Connect centres for Equinix, Tokyo and Singapore for Asia pacific, and from Coresite One, Los Angeles for US West. A few more locations are lined up for this year, but no details were disclosed, reports ZD Net.
Amazon has stated, "Using AWS Direct Connect, you can establish private connectivity between AWS and your data centre, office, or colocation environment."
