On Monday, Apple provided iOS 5.1 beta 3 operating system for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad to developers over-the-air and through company's program portal.
There is less information available about this beta version as it is not being offered as a direct download by Apple. No release information or notes have been made available by the company on its website either.
Some things are known for sure though, one being that the beta 3 brings various features to the iPhone 4S, allowing users to toggle 3G connectivity "on and off" which helps to save battery life. Also this new version provides latest API for marking files as well as directories which does not require back up, minor improvements and bug fixes, reported Mobile Burn.
With this new beta of iOS 5.1 developers can delete individual Photo Stream pictures, which cannot be done in the public version of the operating system. The user has to entirely turn off the feature to prevent storing of picture on the Apple servers.
The latest release is compatible for iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 3GS, iPad, iPad 2 and with the third as well as fourth generation of iPod Touch. In fact, it also refers to next generation iPhone, termed as "iPhone 5.1" and third generation iPad models, termed as "iPad 3.2" and "iPad 3.3", reported Apple Insider.
