Apple is expected to make a new announcement aimed at the education community later this week. Reports are that the company is planning to unveil a new ebook creation tool, designed to optimise text books for its massively popular iPad line.
The company, however, as usual, is refraining from commenting on these new speculations.
According to a Wall Street Journal report, the company has been in close touch with the publishing house McGraw-Hill since June 2011 in preparation to roll out the new technology.
Meanwhile, there are also reports the iPhone maker is planning to launch the new tools to help the education community to come up with interactive ebooks. Apple is also likely to expand its existing platform for their distribution.
Word on the street is that the new offering was initially going to be released last October alongside the release of the iPhone 4S. However, it was postponed due to Steve Job's untimely death.
Last week, the company sent invites to various media outlets, appealing to them to join the company "for an education announcement in the Big Apple," CNet reports.
