Finally Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be added to the massively popular Motorola Xoom tablet. A representative of Motorola confirmed on Friday that the company has already deployed the new Android 4.0 update to few Xoom users for testing purposes.
The representative also mentioned that more additional details will be provided once the update becomes more widely available.
It all started in November when Motorola asked the owners of Xoom to join the "Motorola Owners Forums." At that time the company simply mentioned participants would be a part of good a new project without disclosing anything else.
But there were speculations that it had something to do with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, reports Information Week.
On Friday, the company finally revealed the project was related to updates of the very popular Android operating system to the original Motorola Xoom tablet computer- in both the Wi-Fi and 3G/LTE versions.
A member of Motorola stated, "Thanks for your patience as we've waited for this project to begin. Because we are dealing with a Google Experience Device (GED) we have less insight to timing than we would usually have."
The current trial update is just for Xoom owners residing in US and the company has not disclosed any other detail regarding its additional availability.
