(update : Expansys came back to us to confirm that the Tania will be shipped in the week commencing 20th of February and they are hoping to get a white version coming soon as well.)
The first Windows Phone handset from Chinese manufacturer ZTE, has gone on preorder at Expansys for £250 (with an additional £15 discount when selecting Paypal as payment method and the discount code 15PAYPAL at checkout).
The UK retailer didn't say when the phone would go on sale and has yet to commit to a release date. Strangely enough, the handset comes with only 4GB onboard storage which is less than Microsoft's minimum requirement for running Windows Phone.
It has a 4.3-inch WVGA capacitive display, like the ZTE Skate, and also like the latter has 512MB system memory. Other features include a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 chipset clocked at 1GHz, a five megapixel rear camera, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, microUSB GPS and Windows Phone Mango.
While the Tania earns cookie points for its 4.3-inch display, it also loses some because of its tiny onboard storage - a fact made even worse by the absence of a memory card slot and considering the price of Flash memory is near an all time low.
There are other alternative Windows Phone handsets on the market that offer better value for money, albeit with smaller screens, like the LG Optimus E900.
