According to new reports, Microsoft is considering releasing Xbox Live games for Android and iOS platforms.
As of now, Xbox Live content is available on only one mobile OS platform - Windows Phone.
Ever since it was launched, the company has sold over 66 million Xbox 360 consoles, whereas sales of the Kinect stands at around 18 million. Also, Xbox 360 thrashed Sony PlayStation 3 to emerge as the highest selling video game console during 2011.
According to industry experts, Microsoft's decision to introduce Xbox Live content for iOS and Android platforms has been anticipated - after all, these two happen to be the most widely used mobile OS platforms around today.
"While the Xbox Live experiences and games always work best on the Windows platform, we understand that some Xbox fans may be using other types of devices," a Microsoft spokesperson stated, as reported by Forbes.
"To satisfy that need, we are working to extend a few of our Xbox experiences and titles to other platforms," he added.
