Three To Sell Samsung Galaxy S Advance

UK mobile phone operator Three has announced that it will sell the Samsung Galaxy S Advance smartphone soon.

Sylvia Chind, head of handsets at Three, said that the handset would "combine eye-catching design with powerful technology specs that make for an outstanding smartphone experience".

The smartphone was announced yesterday and other network operators have yet to confirm whether they will sell the mid-range smartphone.

The phone is an evolution of the Galaxy S Advance and swaps the single core, Cortex A8 chipset in the Galaxy S for a dual core Nvidia Tegra 2 chip clocked at 1GHz.

The rest of the configuration has been frozen; there's a 4-inch Super AMOLED WVGA capacitive touchscreen, 8GB onboard storage, a five megapixel camera, HD recording and Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

The phone - which is already on sale for £300 - makes it tricky to consider buying the Galaxy S II. Its bigger brother has a slightly more powerful chipset, a slightly bigger screen, a slightly better camera and is thinner.

But the Samsung Galaxy S Advance, which is also known as the GT-I9070, is 30 per cent cheaper than the Galaxy S II - and that's substantial.

He then moved on to be the Editor of TechRadarPro - a position he still holds - and has recently been reunited with ITProPortal since Future Publishing's acquisition of Net Communities.
