Whether or not all the human rights violation related charges brought against Foxconn are true, only a proper and in-depth investigation can tell; but, it seems like the company - one of the key manufacturing partners of Apple, never fails to make it to the headlines for wrong reasons.
Even though there is nothing new about these allegations and similar charges have been brought against the company numerous times before also, a new CNN report covering the unethical and supposedly inhuman working conditions at Foxconn factories is most likely to spark off a new set of controversies.
According to the CNN report, which cites the correspondent's conversations with some of the workers at Foxconn including a teenage girl, the company has enforced a strict and rigid working culture - much like a stringent military culture in fact, at its facilities in order to maintain discipline.
Apparently, the company does not allow its workers to speak to the media, and not just that, they also threaten that if somebody disobey that rule, "criminal liability shall be investigated according to law."
"During my first day of work, an older worker said to me, 'why did you come to Foxconn? Don't ever think about it again and leave right now'," the report quoted a worker at one of Foxconn's factories as saying.
