Google To Develop New Wireless Entertainment System

Search heavyweight Google Inc. is busy developing a brand new, wireless home network based entertainment device, revealed a filing made by the company with the US Federal Communications Commission.

The trials for the new offering will be conducted on four different cities across the country including Google's home turf Mountain View, California.

According to the filing with the FCC, the trial phase of 252 devices was scheduled to take place from January onwards, and is likely to continue till July this year.

"Google is developing an entertainment device that requires testing outside the laboratory environment. The device is in the prototyping phase and will be modified prior to final compliance testing," the filing read, as reported by Business Week.

Experts are of the opinion that the move taken by the search giant is just a part of its desperate attempt to strengthen its foothold over the consumer electronics market - something which will be of great usage in reducing the company's dependence on search-related advertising for revenues.

Google have yet to make an official announcement regarding all the buzz revolving around the much speculated wireless entertainment device.
