Chinese telecoms company ZTE has announced that its 7-inch V9A tablet, also known as the Light Tab II, will launch in the UK and will be the company's first own-brand tablet available to UK customers.
The device runs on a single core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 processor clocked at 1GHz with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, 1GB RAM, 4GB onboard storage, a rear three-megapixel camera and a front facing 0.3-megapixel one.
It also comes with 7-inch 1024x600 pixel LCD display, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, an FM radio, an external microSD card slot, built in 3G compatibility and a battery life of up to 5.5 hours thanks to a 3400mAh battery.
At 402g and measuring 12.6mm thick, ZTE says that the Light tablet will be especially easy to carry around and is expected to be shipped in 30 countries.
The Light Tab 2 is essentially the equivalent of the original Samsung Galaxy Tab with double the amount of onboard system memory and a quarter of the onboard storage (although that can be augmented to 36GB).
The tablet has yet to be priced and we have not received any formal release date from the likes of ZTE or Expansys.
