Microsoft has confirmed that the public beta of the next version of Office suite will roll out this summer before which awaiting fanboys will be given a taste of Office 15 through a "technical preview".
Imitating last year's strategy of rolling out a technical preview for Office 2010, Microsoft is going to let a select few taste the Office 15 this time around. Through a Office Exec blog post, Microsoft has confirmed that the next iteration of the Office productivity suite will be called "Office 15" and that it will be sharing its work "with a select group of customers under non-disclosure agreements."
P. J. Hough, CVP of Development, Microsoft Office Division, stated:, "I'm not able to share too much about Office 15, but I can tell you Office 15 is the most ambitious undertaking yet for the Office Division."
The executive also stated that along with the Office 15 the company will simultaneously be updating "cloud services, servers, and mobile and PC clients for Office, Office 365, Exchange, SharePoint, Lync, Project, and Visio. Quite simply, Office 15 will help people work, collaborate, and communicate smarter and faster than ever before", which will be a first of its kind simultaneous update.
