Online retailer Expansys has cut the price of the Acer Liquid Metal smartphone down to £115, from £130, until the end of the day; the handset originally carried a suggested retail price of £330.
The device - which is unlocked and unbranded - comes with a 3.6-inch 800 x 480 pixel capacitive screen, a five megapixel camera with 720p HD video capture, a microSD card slot and is powered by a Qualcomm MSM7230 processor clocked at 800MHz.
Other features include a LED flash, 512MB RAM, 512MB onboard storage (plus a 2GB microSD card), a microUSB port, DLNA compatibility, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
Like other Acer devices, the Liquid Metal comes with Acer's own user interface and the Social Jogger widget.
Soundwise, the Liquid Metal has Dolby Mobile, SRS surround sound plus two microphones that reduce background noise.
Expect the 1500mAh battery to last for at least 11 hours in talk time and a massive 550 hours in standby time.
At that price, competition is scarce. ZTE, with its Orange San Francisco and Orange Monte Carlo, will probably be the most serious competitor, although you will have to pay extra to get them unlocked and debranded.
