Taiwan outfit Asus has developed a bootloader unlocking tool for its immensely popular Transformer Prime tablet.
Asus had earlier promised users of this device that it would be releasing the tool later this month, with the company proving true to their word. The new bootloader unlocker offers users total control over the Ice Cream Sandwich OS that powers the device, claimed Asus.
Many believe that the developers community will benefit the most from this exclusive tool as they can now develop and install custom ROMs in the device. However, regular users can also take advantage of this service by tweaking the settings of the Transformer Prime in order to beef up the performance of the sophisticated Nvidia Tegra 3 processor.
"Following your valued feedback, we are pleased to announce that the promised Transformer Prime Bootloader Unlock Tool is now available for download," Asus said, as reported by The Inquirer.
"Please note that the app only supports the Transformer Prime TF201 with Android 4.0 ICS installed, and that once you activate the app, you agree that the product will no longer be covered under the original warranty," it added.
The company has also advised users to back up all their content before proceeding with the installation of the bootloader unlocking tool.
The new service is available for download at the official Asus Support website.
