Viewsonic To Launch Android 4.0-based ViewPad G70 At MWC

Viewsonic will release a 7-inch tablet based on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich at next week's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the Viewsonic ViewPad G70; that's according to Pocket-Lint.com via one anonymous source.

The tablet iss said to come with a 1024x600 pixels resolution, just like the original Galaxy Tab, the RIM BlackBerry PlayBook and the Amazon Kindle Fire.

There should be a microSD card slot, 4GB onboard storage, 1GB RAM, mini HDMI, microUSB and mini USB, a two megapixel rear camera (and possibly a VGA front facing one), 3G connectivity and Viewsonic's own ViewScene 3D user interface.

The source also said that the Viewsonic ViewPad G70 would be ultra light. Expect the tablet to sell for around £220 with a single/dual core processor powering it.

Given the rise of much cheaper Ice Cream Sandwich tablets like the Ainol Novo7, it would be interesting to see how tier-2 players like Viewsonic manage to get their heads out of water, sandwiched between cheapo tablet floggers and premium ones from Apple, Amazon or Samsung.
