Until the 29th of February, HP is giving away one Microserver when purchasing the HP Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essential ROK Edition (code number 652442-A21) operating system which costs a mere £312.72 at Lambda-tek.
The MicroServer itself is the new ProLiant N40L, the successor fo the N36L, and has a dual core AMD Turion II Neo processor clocked at 1.5GHz with 2MB L2 cache. Oddly enough, the Turion II started life as a mobile processor but its low power dissipation made it an ideal candicate for a microserver.
Other features include 2GB DDR3 ECC UDIMM (up to a maximum of 8GB), a 250GB hard disk drive, embedded RAID 0/1, GbE Ethernet port, a 150W PSU and one year warranty.
Up to four hard disk drives can be housed (five if you count the space dedicated to the optical drive). It comes with a D-Sub port and six USB ports as well making it particularly suited for a polyvalent media streamer/entry level server.
Details of the promotion are available here and submissions will have to be received by Friday 30th March.
Note that you can also get a £100 cashback on the N40L if you don't need the server operating system.
