Tech giant, Dell, disclosed that the company has bought AppAssure which happens to be a worldwide leader in offering complete app protection for physical, virtual as well as cloud infrastructure.
AppAssure's acquisition is the first since Dell formed its separate software division and this acquisition will fit the overall storage strategy of company.
President and CEO, AppAssure, Najaf Husain, stated: "Dell's acquisition of AppAssure is a strategic industry move given its relentless focus on providing innovative solutions to protect customers' applications and data in cloud, virtual and physical environments," reported Scientific Computing.
AppAssure supports physical servers as well as virtualised servers over VMware, Hyper-V and XenServer. "AppAssure's software has basic disaster recovery capabilities with automated failover and the ability to rapidly boot backups into VMs (something which the larger players are just coming to market with now)." notes Computer World UK.
AppSssure registered a massive 194 per cent revenue growth in 2011 thus managing growth over 19 consecutive quarters. After the acquisition, Dell is going to retain AppAssure's 230 employees and will keep on investing in the company.
