Sony's handheld gaming console PlayStation Vita has made a total sale of an incredible 1.2 million units worldwide, the company has proudly announced.
The firm also stated that ever since the new-generation console was launched in the Japanese market last December, over two million games have flown off the retail shelves throughout the world.
Sony boasted that sales of the Vita had completely exceeded the company's expectations, with the device finally released to both Europe and America this month selling 800,000 units.
In comparison, Sony's arch rival Nintendo has sold more than 6.7 million units worldwide since its launch over 8 months ago.
"PS Vita was designed to deliver the ultimate portable entertainment experience, and we couldn't be more thrilled with the reaction we're seeing from consumers and the pace at which PS Vita is selling," explained Andrew House, the group president of SCE, as reported by The Independent.
