The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 Wi-Fi, which is a smaller version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, can now be had from £279 at PC World only, a saving of £120 from its official instore price.
The idea behind this form factor was that it would be ideal for those looking for a tablet that lies between the popular-but-often-too small 7-inch tablet and the popular-but-often-too-large 10.1-inch display.
Unfortunately, it doesn't look to be the case hence the steep discount. The Galaxy Tab 8.9 features a dual core Nvidia Tegra 2 SoC clocked at 1GHz, 1GB RAM, 16GB onboard storage, a 8.9-inch 1280 by 800 pixels PLS TFT display, a 3.2-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front camera, HD ready video recording, Bluetooth, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi and a 6000mAh battery.
It doesn't have a microSD card slot though but an upgrade Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is secured. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 runs on Android 3.0 Honeycomb with Samsung's TouchWiz UX user interface.
It is a good compromise size wise between the likes of the PlayBook and the Motorola XOOM.
