Part listings from two popular Apple accessories manufacturers, Griffin and Belkin, appear to indicate that the next generation Apple iPad will be called the iPad HD rather than the iPad 3.
Gizmodo published a picture of what appears to be a listing for the company's iPad HD IntelliCase. Three are listed, the GB03745, the GB03820 and the GB03819.
That said, the name "iPad HD" could have been made up and historically, Apple always went for number to differentiate between their different models when it comes to mobile devices (iPod 4G, iPhone 4S, iPad 2).
The followup to the iPad 2 is expected to be launched in two days at a special event in San Francisco at the Yerba Buena Center for Arts and is said to have a Retina Display screen with a 2560 by 1920 pixel screen, a new more powerful Apple A6 (or A5X processor) and iOS6.
ITProPortal.com has a live blog of the event from London, covering the pre-iPad 3 buzz happening in the hours prior to the launch, rumours and the launch itself on Wednesday 7th. We suggest that you follow and bookmark this real-time live blog thread.
