The Apple iPad 3 is by far the most popular tablet for prospective buyers according to a survey carried out by YouGov.
Just over a quarter of prospective purchasers probed during the survey say that they will buy an iPad 3 despite the fact that the product has yet to be launched.
It also found out that one out of six Britons "are keen" to buy a tablet within the next two years with one in 12 saying that they want to get one within the next 90 days.
The iPad remains the preferred tablet brand for British customers with nearly 70 per cent saying that they'd want to buy either the iPad 2 or the iPad 3.
In comparison, only six per cent say that they want to get an Amazon Kindle when it launches in the UK and five per cent opted for one of the many variants of the Samsung Galaxy Tab.
Just under half of prospective buyers questioned say that they would prefer to get a 3G tablet rather than one with Wi-FI alone (which accounts for 27 per cent) but YouGov also pointed out that price difference and cost of 3G often force buyers to opt for a Wi-Fi only device.
The iPad 3 or iPad HD is expected to be rolled out tomorrow at an invite-only event at Apple's headquarters in California.
