Ahead Of iPad 3 Launch, Retailer Clears iPad 3G 64GB For £299

Mac specialist Cancom is currently selling the original iPad, which was launched two years ago for a whopping £299 which, in the grand scheme of things is a cracking bargain given that it is the 3G model with 64GB onboard storage.

There's no cameras or Facetime but you will still get that gorgeous XGA 9.7-inch display, a decent Apple A4 processor with 256MB RAM, a PowerVR SGX535 GPU, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a design that still is very much amongst the best, two years after it was launched.

The tablet originally cost £664 and you'd be hard pressed to find a tablet with a similar configuration for that price. In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with 3G and 64GB onboard storage costs £650 at Amazon.

The tablet comes with free delivery and is a new rather than a refurbished model. Cancom is also selling the 32GB iPad 2 with 3G for £499 which is £80 less than the suggested retail price of the tablet at Apple. has a live blog of the event from London, covering the pre-iPad 3 buzz happening in the hours prior to the launch, rumours and the launch itself on Wednesday 7th.
