When the CEO of Apple concludes the launch of the iPad 3 later today, he may announced a brand new Apple TV as part of the usual "and one more thing" exercise that his predecessor, Steve Jobs, used to perform.
A new Apple TV device is widely tipped to be announced later today according to the Verge's sources. Not only will the device still be called Apple TV but it will also have 1080p capabilities and tighter integration with the iPad, the iPhone, Mac products and the iPod Touch.
Expect the Apple TV to use either a new SoC called the A5X or the A5, to come with Siri, to feature iOS 5.1 and to cost the same as the current model.
It would be interesting to see how the Apple TV fits with the other rumoured Apple TV project, the iTV which is said to integrate Apple TV brains with an Apple-inspired television set.
