Looking for an affordable Android smartphone with a QWERTY keyboard? Other than the HTC Desire Z and a few Motorola handsets. But there's one more smartphone on offer from Handtec, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro that ticks all the boxes.
Available for only £130 at Handtec (unlocked and unbranded), the handset was launched last year and comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread with Sony Ericsson's Timescape UI. It is powered by the same chip as the Xperia arc and the Xperia Play, a single core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 clocked at 1GHz.
Other features include a five megapixel camera with flash, a four row slide out QWERTY keyboard, a 3-inch 480 by 320 pixels screen with Reality display technology and the Mobile BRAVIA engine, a microSD card slot, support for Exchange Activesync, a five megapixel camera WI-Fi, front facing VGA, HD video recording, a 1200mAh battery, 512MB RAM and a microUSB port.
There's not much competition at this price point. The Motorola Fire, at £120, is cheaper but also less powerful and not everyone will warm up to the form factor. Ditto for the Motorola Milestone 2 which which is more powerful but also bulkier and more expensive.
