The iPad's Retina Display Makes Apps Up To Five Times Larger

The new iPad with its high-resolution display will need specially designed apps and Apple has already started to give its apps the required face-lift.

Tech-inclined websites found out that the apps built to accustom the new Apple tablet are up to five times larger than the original apps. Some of the most noticeable examples include the apps released on the same day as the new iPad with its Retina Display. Keynote, for instance, which was recently only 115MB is almost three times larger, at 327MB.

iMovies, the other official Apple app refurbished to accommodate the high resolution screen of the third generation iPad jumped from 70MB to 404MB. Apple also made Pages larger as now the app is 269MB compared to the previous version, which was 95MB. Some of the apps also received additional features that would allow some lucky Apple fans to make the best out of the third generation iPad.

The new iMovie app is now more than five times larger than the previous version, but allows users to create movie trailers, preview music and sound effects with the new Audio browser. We will be running a live blog for the launch of the iPad 3 tomorrow covering the latest stock updates and price checks across the country and from more than 30 retailers nationwide.
