The Black Taxi Mobile Phone App Is Now Free

Popular traditional London Black taxi application, GetTaxi, has now removed its booking fee for Android, iPhone and BlackBerry devices.

GetTaxi is a mobile phone application for booking taxis, with the established, reliable and trusted UK Black Taxi - where the cab can even be seen traveling to your destination on a Google Map, from inside of the software.

Prior to this week, there was an 80p booking fee added to the journey cost, just to cover the expense of the service which has now been removed.

The waving of the cost is from "wanting to make both the app and service free of charge", said the CEO Neal Fullman, in an interview with

GetTaxi's app is free to download for all the major mobile phone platforms, and is available for use in the UK, Spain, Germany and Israel; it has recently launched in Russia, too.

This service launched in August 2011, from an idea in a Coffee shop, as someone was constantly failing to get a taxi on rainy day - the solution, GetTaxi.

GetTaxi uses a dedicated black box device, inside of a taxi, where training and vetted happens before use - assuring a good level of service, with a peace of mind guarantee when using the whole set up.
