Netflix is set to add TED Talks to its streaming library, with the diversification of their content hoping to land them a much wider audience.
Yesterday marked the announcement of Netflix confirming that the latest addition to their archive of media would be worldwide renowned conference, TED. The global set of conferences is one of the most popular events amongst the technology and design community, hosting a series of talks lasting anywhere between a few minutes to half an hour long. The on-demand streaming service is hoping to accumulate a number of these talks into into two and a half hour segments to be known as TEDTalk shows - and will be categorising them into 14 different subjects such as beauty, space and even sex.
This will prove a great asset to Netflix, as one of the setbacks to TED is how expensive attending the event can be. Considering it takes place in Long Beach, CA, the distance alone is enough to put any reluctant traveller out of pocket - but with a streaming subscription thanks to Netflix, users only have to pay $7.99 a month to view the talks (great news for Netflix customers in UK, US, Canada, Ireland and Latin America).
