The pent up demand for the new iPads is bringing piles of money not only to Apple's vaults but also for the carriers. AT&T wasted no time in reporting proudly single day records for the new iPad sales.
"On Friday, March 16, AT&T set a new single-day record for its iPad sales and activations, demonstrating robust demand for the new iPad on the nation's largest 4G network, covering nearly 250 million people," states AT&T's press release.
The AT&T statement is short and does not offer additional details but it preceded Apple's official statement on the matter. Now, analysts are expecting the press release from Verizon, the other US carrier that was able to include the new iPad in its offer to subscribers. Apple confirmed the new iPad frenzy announcing a new milestone in iPad sales.
According to official numbers, 3 million people bought the new iPad in the launch weekend. Despite the fact that on March 16th, the queues in front of Apple Stores were smaller than last year when the iPad 2 was released, the new iPad sold three times more in the launch weekend than its predecessor.
