If you're a mobile gamer, odds are you've already had a shot at the latest episode of the Angry Birds franchise. Angry Birds Space takes the furious flappers into the inky black vacuum, where they're still fired at pigs, although this time around planets in a slingshot, orbital fashion. Well, you've got to throw some sort of a new twist in.
Although there have been several twists of a different nature in the Angry Birds saga about whether or not it would appear on the Windows Phone platform.
Earlier today, Bloomberg reported that Angry Birds Space wasn't going to appear on Microsoft's mobile OS, which led to much wailing and gnashing of teeth from Lumia owners.
Peter Vesterbacka, chief marketing officer at Rovio, told Bloomberg that there were "no plans" to unleash the space version of the game on Windows Phone. He said: "We're the No. 1 app in the Windows Phone app store, but it's a big undertaking to support it, and you have to completely rewrite the application."
However, Rovio has quickly reversed that sentiment, with the CEO Mikael Hed telling Reuters, just a matter of hours later, that: "We are working towards getting Angry Birds Space on WP7."
He did admit that a release date hadn't yet been set, though. It sounds very much like some swift and serious words were had in the boardroom after Vesterbacka's comment, and the resulting damage control was quickly applied.
Still, it's all good news for Windows Phone gamers.
