Sony Tablet P and Tablet S to get Android 4.0

Sony has announced that Ice Cream Sandwich, Android 4.0, update will be coming to the Tablet P and the Tablet S at the end of April.

Users of the Tablets will be able to take advantage of the panoramic photo feature that is present in Sony's NEX and Alpha cameras. The update will also include the ability to access the camera app directly from the lock screen.

A brand new app 'Recopla', available from Google Play, will also be available to those with a Sony Blu-Ray recorder, which allows you to view your previously digitally recorded TV programs. Multi-tasking is also easier due to an enhanced 'Small Apps' feature which allows you to run a mini app on top of the fullscreen app you are already using. You can choose from a mini calculator, remote control or small browser window.

Sony has also announced that it will be launching a Wi-Fi only version on the Tablet P. The dual screen tablet is due for release on 21st April for ¥50,000 (£380). Owners of both the original 3G tablet and the new version will also be offered the option of replaceable coloured covers in gold, pink and blue for around £40.
