TweetDeck Update Now Allows Edits And Retweets

As part of an effort to increase user engagement within the microblogging community, Twitter has rolled out some much-needed changes to its popular desktop service TweetDeck - covering Chrome, Mac, Windows and web apps.

New features in the 1.3 version include improved list management, better retweeting support and inline media functionality; with added columns allowing users to track followers in real-time as well as any tweet-related activity.

When news of Twitter's acquisition for a hefty $40 million broke out in May 2011, fans were excited for what the future would hold for the social networking dashboard. However, when the Twitter-branded TweetDeck hit our desktops in December, the reactions weren't quite what the company was hoping for. Despite attempts at fixing certain bugs, many TweetDeck users were lamenting the loss over some of its original features.

Whilst the latest update doesn't address all the issues, it does however restore certain elements crucial to TweetDeck's functionality - permitting users to manage their lists by creating, editing and deleting within the app.

The introduction of inline media previews from and Twitter's mobile apps to TweetDeck means you can now previews images and videos underneath a tweet, but the most noticeable change is the elimination of the 'Quote' option - and in its place the more familiar 'Edit and RT' feature, giving back the power to users to edit and RT accordingly.
