The price of the Motorola XOOM tablet is quickly approaching £250 as PC World has issued a voucher code "TAB5" that cuts £14 off the current price of the tablet to £266, a saving of £214 over its original selling price.
Released in January 2011, the Motorola XOOM was the first tablet to come with Android 3.0 Honeycomb and a dual core Nvidia Tegra 2 system on chip (the one powering the XOOM is clocked at 1GHz).
It comes with 1GB RAM, 32GB onboard storage, a 10.1-inch 1,280 by 800 pixels LED touchscreen, a microSDHC card slot, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a HDMI port, a five megapixel rear camera and a front facing two-megapixel one, GPS and up to 10 hours video playback.
Motorola has already confirmed that you will be able to update it to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and the fact that you can throw in a 32GB card for under £18 (to up the internal storage to 64GB) makes it a compelling buy should you be looking for a 64GB tablet.
The competition include the Acer Iconia A200 (and A500), the Asus Eee Pad Transformer, the RIM BlackBerry PlayBook, the Samsung Galaxy Tab and the Sony Tablet S1. Note that the discount is valid until the 28th of March.
