Onkyo presents the entry level TX-NR509 AV receiver with networking capabilities that will provide you with a strong platform for a fully integrated home entertainment setup.
The AV receiver has a total of four HDMI inputs that will let you simultaneously connect high-def sources such as a Blu-ray player, a gaming console, and a cable/satellite tuner without the hassles of swapping cables every now and then. Through the single output, the AV receiver will send pristine signal to your connected high-resolution display.
The NR509 supports both 3D video and an Audio Return Channel, along with numerous high-resolution formats. 3D video would allow you and your family to watch Hollywood blockbusters in 3D right from the comfort of your living room while the Audio Return Channel allows audio content received directly by your HDTV's tuner to be sent "upstream" via HDMI to your A/V receiver, without the need for a separate S/PDIF audio cable.
Networking capabilities is one of the key features of the AV receiver as it can link directly to the internet or to your home PC via a local network and stream music from PC or the internet. It is also capable of connecting to a huge array of internet radio channels from Last.fm and vTuner, plus on-demand music streaming from Napster, etc. The receiver is DLNA certified as well.
Sound output is great with support for 5.1 channel audio. Some other connectivity options include front-panel USB port (for clean digital link with both iPod/iPhone and USB storage devices) and Zone 2 line-outs.
The Onkyo TX-NR509B 2011 Model 5.1 Networking 3D Ready AV Receiver with iPod/iPhone Ready USB Port is available from Amazon for £244.95.
