The 4.1.3 version of the Twitter app for Apple's smartphones and tablets was released on Tuesday on iTunes.
Users can finally receive updates for Mentions and Interactions in the Connect tab without being annoyed by technical issues. This weekend, Twitter fans noticed that their iOS application stopped working properly.
Some iPhone owners weren't able to see the updates for Mentions. Also, other activities in the Connect tab, such as retweets or favourites, experienced some serious issues. The problem affected devices running on iOS 4 and iOS 5.
Apparently, Android phone owners noticed the same problem with the Twitter app. The microblogging site also upgraded its app available in Google Play (formerly known as Android Market).
Twitter acknowledged the problem on the support page (opens in new tab) and apologised for the inconvenience. Apart from suggesting a temporary solution to solve the problem, Twitter's representatives were reluctant to give any details about the causes of the issue. The company also promised to work on a fix, which they promptly delivered.
Twitter users on the popular platforms of iOS and Android are now safe to resume their tweeting accordingly.
