Android 4.0 & Capacitive Display : Eken T01 Now Available From £80

You can now buy a tablet with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and a 7-inch capacitive display (albeit one with a 800 by 480 pixels resolution) for as little as £80.

Online retailer Futeko sells the Eken T01 which is just like the Ainovo Novo7 Basic which we previewed last week but is based on ARM rather than MIPS.

The tablet has a Cortex-A8 based Allwinner A10 CPU clocked at 1GHz with a Mali400 GPU, 512MB RAM, 4GB onboard storage with a microSD card slot, a USB port, a front facing 1.3-megapixel camera, up to four hours battery life thanks to a 2300mAh battery, Android market and Flash compatibility, WiFi, HDMI out and support for a wide array of audio and video formats.

The tablet is 13mm thick and weighs 356g. The only downside we can see at this price from the spec sheet is the lack of rear camera and onboard GPS.

The Eken boosts a similar configuration but a much lower price compared to the likes of the Arnova or the Kogan 7-inch tablets or the Lenovo Ideapad A1.

Expect future versions to feature a higher resolution screen as well as a rear camera plus onboard GPS.
