Nokia and Microsoft have started an advertising campaign that targets every application developer working on Windows Phone from the United Kingdom.
The two companies are looking for innovative apps that have been recently published by developers in the Windows Phone Marketplace. These applications must target UK consumers mainly and can relate to any of the categories: casual games, kids, family, health and fitness, shopping, social, travel, and utilities.
Those who submit their software could be featured in upcoming promotions, while some of the best will be included in future Nokia ad campaigns.
The big prize consists of online banner ads, feature placement inside the Marketplace, public relations and media conferences, invitations to future events and even social media activities.
Nokia and Microsoft will hold this event each month and every application submitted will be reviewed. The registration deadline for the first campaign, taking place in May, is 20th April while the second will take place in June. Those wishing to join the latter can submit software until 15th of May, on the official website.
This is a great opportunity for talented UK developers and has a bright side for Microsoft and Nokia as well. Besides the hype generated by a contest, Microsoft should also find it easier to fill gaps in the Marketplace using promotion as an incentive instead of just direct payments.
